Don is home as of Friday evening. We were both very happy that he finished the chemo on time and was able to be released to come home. He is feeling pretty lousy from the cumulative effects of the chemo in his body and he doesn't have much of an appetite. He also doesn't have much energy. He felt pretty good up until Thursday afternoon, then started to feel pretty yucky. We are very thankful he did not have any extreme side effects. We are hopeful that by Tuesday he will start feeling better, which is what happened last time.
Lots of prayer requests:
- Please pray, dear friends that the chemo is doing it's job and Don will not have to go through more than one more round of this life-draining treatment!
- Pray also that his kidneys will be protected from the effects of the chemo and will continue to function normally.
- Pray that his energy and appetite will be restored as quickly as possible.
- Pray for protection from infection while his immune system is disabled.
We praise the Lord:
- For all of the great doctors and nurses who took such good care of Don this past week. As an added blessing, we continue to meet believers at University Hospital who serve the Lord as well as their patients and are such an encouragement to us!
- That Don did not experience any extreme side effects this past week.
- That the chemo was finished on time and he got to come home Friday night. He rests so much better at home!
Don and Marcie
PS - If you have time to drop us a comment we would love to hear from you about how you have been strengthened during a trial in your own life. Thanks!
so glad Don finished on time with this week's treatment and can recuperate at home now...As he progresses through these treatments I'm becoming more and more optimistic for the success we all desire so much. I told Don as soon as he gets his appetite back this week to let me know, and I'll cook him any meal he wants! Love you both!
ReplyDeleteDon and Marci, God is with you both fully and absolutely! Having gone thru chemo 2 different times over the last 10 years I know how hard it is on you Don, and you the caregiver Marcie. I also KNOW our God is faithful, and more than sufficient in meeting our needs as His children. Glory to His Name. I had to reflect on the suffering of Jesus as he hung on the cross, and as He bore all our sickness and disease. All of them at one time! Surely with His help we could get thru this and we did, Thank you Jesus. Ray and I continue to keep you both in our prayers! And the One who answers will answer indeed in power and truth! We pray you both and your family will be blessed spiritually, physically (that your body will be the way God made it to be according to His Word, Healthy and Healed!, and financially. He promised to meedt all our needs according to His riches in Glory. Nothing is impossible for Him. Ray and Sue Pluck
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased that your husband is home and resting with his family. I continue to pray for Don every day, I will continue to pray for him and his family.
ReplyDeleteWhen I went through my year of chemo I was very sick, it had a cumulative affect so by the 12th month I was ever so ill but here I am 9 years later and cancer free. The medicine worked but more than that through my Faith in our Holy Father my life was made better as well as my health. Be strong and know you are never alone......big hugs
God has strengthened us many times through several miscarriages. He is always there even when we don't feel it we know he is there from experience. Praying for you guys and your kids and grandkids
ReplyDeleteI'm praying for you two, and seeing you as well as everyone else that came to my grandfather's calling hours was such an encouragement to me. I've also been reading through Daniel to know that God is there even when I don't really notice at times, and he walks with us in the fire, and sometimes, our deliverance is through the fire verses from it.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear he is home! We think of you often!
ReplyDeleteDon and Marcie,
ReplyDeleteI pray for you EVERY single day. What is your real address so I can send a card? Your journey puts life into perspective, makes other's problems seem very small in comparison with the battle you are now in . Your strength (both of you ) is inspiring.. wow Don - STILL going in to work... the consummate professional and giver of care... vessel of God.
Our smoke has mostly cleared in COlorado Springs, and we can refocus again on daily life, rather than just survival life. I pray for a clear life, scans, health.. for you .
In HIS grip,
Patty Gould
